How can I tell if a guy I've casually known for 4 years likes me?

if you have casually known him 4 years and he has never really told you or showed you he likes you . then i doubt if he ever will

If he flirts with you... Alot
Pays attention to you (more than other people, especially girls)
Makes excuses to be near you, with you, hang out with you.
You can always invite him to do something and just see where it goes (something non-datey so it doesn't seem wierd), even with a group of people and build from there if you interested in him.
He may not even know he likes you.
