i have a paper in my biology class, so i need to find analogies for the following:

Chloroplast
Golgi apparatus
Endoplasmic reticulum
ribosomes
lysosomes
cytoplasm

THanks alot!
they dont have to be serious analogies, they can be from like movies ro whatever

for example: a cell membrane would be like a revolving door because it decides wht enters and leaves

I know you can think of these on your own. You have a good start with the cell membrane. Think about the basic functions of each organelle and you'll easily find a metaphor for them.

Let's get you started with one or two and you can do the rest. For the cell membrane you might think of it also as a strange version of the old Berlin Wall. You have gates (channel proteins) that allow things in and out depending on different factors (size, charge, etc). Kind of like the gate guards who decide who can go in and out ("Do you have your papers in order, mein Herr?"). It also kept the citizens of East Berlin IN so they can do their various jobs without leaking out into the West.

The ribosome, as you know, is where proteins are assembled from single amino acids. The most obvious analog for this is a factory. The assembly workers are tRNA's because they bring the amino acids to the ribosome.

I hope this at least gives you a starting place. Relax and have fun with it.

You should do your own homework, or you will not learn. I'm sure that if you recall the definitions of the organelles, you can easily think of relevent analogies.
