Yes, it tends to add some discomfort for overweight girls, especially younger adolescents that are first starting their cycles. The tendency to add water gain, is a given too. All in all, menstrual cycles are painful and the best way to prevent alot of the discomfort is to recognize when you are due for your period and catch it before it becomes a problem. In other words...if you are used to taking an over the counter remedy for cramps...do so a day before you begin. It has a natural water reduction agent in it and prevents the emotional side from going haywire. It is always good to know where your cycle is in the month..also, for birth control. You actually release the female egg anywhere from 12-15 days after the FIRST day of your period..not the last. Usually this causes some discomfort too.

well Im not sure. but if the weight gain is right before your period that you worried about, then thats just called bloating.

i wouldn't think so. stress can do so many things to a person, i would blame that instead.
