Mine didn't talk about it until I was about 7 or 8 months along. That is also about the time she talked to me about my epidural. I signed the release for the epidural but when i actually went into labor I didn't want it. They gave me Demerol to ease the pain and it really didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would. The only time I screamed was when my daughter crowned!! She is my only child and the closer my due date came the more nervous I got. I didn't have any nirthing classes or anything like that. My doctor was very surprised how well my labor went. I was only in labor for about 8 hours!

Be proactive in treatment. Your doctor may not discuss it with you at all. He may just assume to deal with it as it comes. But if you want something different bring it up with him. What you to do may not be an option in your hospital or birthing center.

As a mother of four and a grandmother of three I would like to know why you would wait for the doctor to broach the subject. If you want to know-ASK-. After all you are the one who is pregnant, and you are the one paying the doctor. He is there at your service. ASK.

They usually wait until your third trimester before discussing things like that at early stages there main focus is keeping the baby and mom healthy when you start getting closer to your due date they will start discussing your options with you.
