Season 3 launches on October 4th 2006, starting with what Cuse and Lindelof call a "mini-season" of 6 new episodes, running up to November 15th, ending with a mini cliffhanger. The show will then take a 3 month long break until February 2007, when the season returns with a remarkable 17 all-new episodes which will run uninterrupted until the season finale in May 2007.
