What is the best thing that would get the smell of gas out of shoes?

Quit pooting in them and they won't smell like gas.

Do you mean the smell of stinky socks. Air it out in the sun. If you take it into the house, put your shoes inside a bag and seal it.

Well, it beats foot odor! But seriously, I don't think you can ever get that smell out of your shoes. Your shoes are done. Get a new pair.

You can try putting a dryer sheet (cling free, bounce, etc) and some baking soda.
