I am thinking of suing the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Does anyone here know how to do it, preferably without an attorney (at least to start off). Ten points to best answer! Thanks!!!

P.S. I know suing any government agency is problematic, and I doubt I may win, but I guarantee I will get somebody's attention with the amount I will be suing for, and that is my main purpose. I intend to sue for negligence, harassment, and incompetence. I have never sued anyone, so I don't think I will get the "frivolous lawsuit" problem. I did what they asked, and they are still hounding me, and I've had it with their incompetence.

Computer crashed - so above two paragraphs resulted. Second one is more complete and accurate.

P.S.S. I don't owe the money!!! THAT is the problem - I proved it by providing Social Security records AT THEIR REQUEST and they still won't let me go!!! THAT is why I MAY sue them.

You say your main purpose is to get someone's attention with the amount you sue for - but who? Who is going to even HEAR about your lawsuit?

If you do have a complaint that you would like to make public, it might be a good idea to see if any of your local tv stations or newspapers have a 'consumer advocate' that can try to get your situation resolved, and get your situation the media attention you think it deserves.

and you won't need a lawyer.

however, if you are hellbent on suing, see if you can get a pro bono lawyer thru local legal aid society, or shop around to find one who'll work solely on the prospect of a percentage of your winning.

To do it yourself, check the Wisconsin website for court pages, and see if they provide links to the process. Also, typing in "file your own lawsuit' brings up a number of hits, but can't judge how reputable.

You want to sue a government agency, and you want to do it without an attorney? They will crush you like an insect. Suing the government is very difficult, because they have armies of lawyers, and because THEY ARE THE LAW! Even if you are in the right, they will outmaneuver you at every turn.
At the very least, seek legal guidance. And if it's just about money, it would be a lot easier to just go make some more than to try and get it back from them.

You can sue anybody you want.....although you may be hit by the court with a "frivolous" lawsuit charge if you are just complaining. You don't have to get an attorney, but it helps.

you can sue anyone for anything - but the real question is whether or not you can win.
