Is It Weird I Only Write About The Negatives?

I'm an aspiring poet, but i never talk about the beauty of nature or how much i love a woman, it's mostly about a girl cheating on me, God, politics, and various "dark" or "goth" type of stuff. That's what I like to write about, should I conform to the typical poet ways?

I think you just write about the strongest feelings you have. You're only inspired when you're really fired up about something.
I'm the same way, I only paint when I'm deeply upset.

I'm sorry, I USED TO BE... lol... Now I'm in love and he inspires me. A great happiness should be just as inspiring as something negative. it's just what you feel. Maybe you need to focus on something good in your life. Think of that and then magnify it.

If "happy" things strike you as fake an contrived, then all you really have is what seems real to you.

Nothing wierd about it, but if you want to take your strengths and give them a positive take, you might consider comedy or satire.

I believe that people by nature focus on the negative things. Not many people watch news about happy things; they watch news about bad things. Looking at things negatively is not weird.

As far as your poems are concerned, they should be a reflection of you, not other poets.

No, right now your writing is you, but I would wonder to myself "why do I always write negatively?" Is there something nagging at you and you are getting it out in your writing. If so,great, but I'd also deal with the problem if there is one.
