I am the vice-president of our local little league...and I can't believe you even asked that question. The main objective for little leaguers is to learn. Not only learn the rules but good sportsmanship and team work. A lot of the kids that are playing would settle for a pat on the back and a "job well done" from their coach which whom they probably look up to. At least if they get a trophy (which we give out medals) that is something they can keep for a lifetime. And as far as having to pay the doctor's bill when they get injured...well your local little league has to carry insurance on each and every child playing specifically for that reason. As long as they are injured at the ball diamonds while playing ball...the insurance kicks in to help defray costs. The bottom line is....these are kids...they are out there to do their best and have fun...not earn a paycheck.
