Not a chance. As the Denver Broncos seem to prove year after year, a running back can be made into a star by his O-line. Shaun Alexander is an excellent RB, but it would be difficult for him to duplicate his stats from last year even WITH Hutchinson. Without him, he may still have a great season, but if you're asking if he will be "as effective," I would say the safe money is on "No."

Highly unlikely. Alexander set a record with 28 touchdowns last season and also led the league in rushing yards. He's coming off a season in which he carried a career-high 370 times; it'll be interesting to see how his body holds up, as his rushing attempts have steadily increased over the last 5 seasons. Losing Pro-bowler Hutchinson to Minnesota definitely hurts. However, even with Hutchinson, Alexander will be hard pressed to repeat that ridiculous figure of 28 TD's from a year ago. In that sense he won't be as effective, as some have mentioned above; yet he will undoubtedly remain one of the premier running backs in the league. If Hasselback and the WR trio of Darrell Jackson, Nate Burleson, and Bobby Engram can keep defenses honest; then Alexander might have a easier-than-imagined time running the ball. Once again, however, thats a big "if", and common sense says that the loss of such an integral part of the unit which Alexander's success relied heavily upon will hurt his performance this year.

The guy that is replacing him is a little above avg. Floyd Womack play in all 16 games last years and started 8 of them. When the coach give Hutchinson a back Womack come in. So I really don't think Shaun performance would be hurt. What will hurt Shaun is if he get injure

yeah he will know he has to step it up.. and they didnt just place some 3rd stringer to replace him.. they have a avg replacement.. i think the move will effect the qb more than the RB.. Larry johnson and the chiefs lost their best O-Lineman and he ran for almost 1800 yards in 9 games
