I dont have a home phone to call the doctor but I just walked into my babies room. She was down for a nap and when I went to go check on her she had her diaper opened and was eating her poop! I'm not sure how much she ate but I'm really worried because I don't know what could happen. Does anyone know anything about this?

your daughter is fine, she is just exploring her world; which unfortunatly includes some pretty gross things like eating poop. i would be thankful that it wasn't something that could seriously harm her like posions. please get yourself a pre-paid cell phone, so that you are able to call emergancy help if something serious happend. i know what it is like not to have transportation or even a phone line, a pre-paid cell phone is a great invention and is a big help. good luck

'She'll be fine. I worked in a nursing home and the elderly often do this too. Why? I don't know, it seems gross, but it happens. Clean her hands good with soap and water. Clean up any other stool from her living space and disinfect the area with lysol or something. Next try cleaning out her mouth the best you can, and give her something to eat or drink. Keep and eye on her, but nothing should happen other than a belly ache. Next time you are in for an appt, discuss this with the dr. You can also call the ob dept and most nurses there will try to help you.

Don't worry about it, your baby isn't the first one to do that, I know, because mine has and has had no ill effects.
Just keep an eye on her and as long as she doesn't show any signs of being sick in the next day or two she will be fine.
Don't panic, she will eat a lot more dirt and stuff before she gets old.
Unless she already has some kind of health issues, like being sick or something, there shouldn't be any problems.

You don't have a phone, but you have internet service? How exactly is that? Even if you have DSL or a cable modem, shouldn't you be able to afford a cell phone with a cheap package?
Clean your baby off, wipe out her mouth with a damp cloth, give her a drink of water, and take her to your neighbor's house to call the doctor.

You have kids, you don't have a car or a phone???????? How is that possible. Boy I must have it good then cause my husband leaves the car with me and I take him back and forth to work because of our kids, until he gets his new carb in his truck!
Well G. I don't know what to tell ya, wash it out and if she's a baby, try putting shorts on her to make it harder to take off diaper. Use a neighbors phone, don't tell me, you live in the boonies where nobody lives next to you? You should've been there when my sister drank gasoline while my father was out working on his mustang when she was 3. Just wait, it gets worse hun.

It's gross, but tons of kids do it. My cousin's baby made a habit of eating cat poop and he's just fine. Brush out her mouth, get her to drink lots of water and fluids. It would probably be a good idea to start telling her that it's yucky if you see her trying to do it again. I've tried looking it up online and I'm not finding anything that suggests you going to the doctor right away. Keep an eye on her and it she starts acting sick, make your way to the doctors office.

If you don't have a phone, how are you getting on the internet? Babies eat all sorts of things, but that's not one I've ever heard of. Go to a neighbors' and call the doctor.

How old is she? She probably didn't eat much and yes, if babies get their diaper off they often have fun making a great mess. My grandson did it just a couple of weeks ago - what a state his bed and room were in!! I wouldn't worry about it too much.

There shouldn't be anything to worry about. Two of my three did the same thing. They were fine. You can however get sick from it. Just watch her and if she shows signs of getting sick then I would take her to get her checked out. I'm curious... how is it that you have internet access at home and no home phone?

She will be ok a little bit of poop never hurt a baby before.Try putting underwear over her diaper,they are harder to get off than her pants or diaper.It works i do it w/my 13 mth old.
