When im driving, the RPM drops from normal like lets say at about 3500 rmp on 5th and suddenly it drops to 0 and doesn't accelerate or go up even when the gas pedal is pressed. sometimes it returns back to normal and other times i have to pul over and shut off then turn back on. is this is a fuel filter problem or a major problem. it is a 6 cylinder fuel injected engine.

My guess is it's an electrical problem. For a little better help, go to the site listed below in "know your source" . There's a bunch of Z sites so someone has surely had a similar problem or knows if it's a recurring problem with those cars. Best of luck and enjoy!

I have 5 Z's. Lets start with first things first. You leave lots of gray and not much info., like does it miss in 5th gear or just die? When it shuts off and you pull over, how long do you have to wait till it will restart? does it do it below 3500 RPM?
Is it were fuel starvation (lack of fuel) problem you'd start losing power and when you stepped on the gas the engine would miss.
Now if it were a electrical problem in the ignition you could have anything from intermitting running to not running at all.
I suggest you take the car to a good mechanic and let them have a stab at it.. I don't see theres anything major wrong there.

sure if that % is pounds in step with sq. Inch. The low stress warning mild ought to swap on at 14 PSI. My journey with L-28 in line 6 Datsun autos the sender unit and sprint meter isn't as precise as a actual stress device meter with a oil line. So something above 15 psi ought to artwork. 50 to 60 psi at % is suited.

I'll bet it's an electrical problem. The tach dropping to zero is the clue. The tach would continue to read normally if it was a fuel flow problem.

Does the engine act die or the car slow down when this happens? If so, you may have a bad ignition module.

If the car still drives normally, it's a problem with the tachometer or its wiring.

You definitely have an electrical problem with your tachometer. With a problem like that it would probably be best to take the car into a dealer and have them check all the wiring. Just be careful to not let them sucker you into paying for them to fix stuff on your car that is perfectly fine.
