OMG! We went to Medieval Times! Go on their web site or check your local Sunday paper coupon section because they do put out coupons. If it's for her birthday, they have specials too. You'll save yourself some money.
We went to the one in Landover/Largo MD and it was just incredible!!! I was all stoked to hate the place and was doing it for my 8 year old son's birthday, but I LOVED it!
The food was wonderful and served traditionally... by costumed servants dipping soup out of buckets and there's no silverware... everything is to be eaten by hand. The show is just awesome... and the kids are enjoying it but the adults are just as spellbound.
You sit in sections and root for your knight... and then afterwards the kids have a chance to meet the knights and get autographs. It was just incredible and I would love to go back. Wouldn't take much prompting to get the whole family on board with it because everyone in our party, ages 6 to 45, boys and girls, was just thrilled to be there.
One final note: This party included my son who was 12 at the time, bipolar and autistic, hard to amuse, normally in bed by 8pm. He sat... totally enthralled... for several hours... all through the show... not one moment of upset... and was just completely enamoured by the whole experience. That's a statement :)

I've been to Medieval Times in Orange Co (CA.) about ten years ago when my kids were about 10 and 11. It was a really great time for both the girls and boys. I think 8 years old might be just a little too young but it depends on the kid.
The food is eaten with your hands so the kids get a big kick out of it and while not gourmet, it's passable.
I'd do it again with my grandkids someday!

I've been to both. Your niece will enjoy both (at the end of the Pirates show, they involve all the kids - very cute), but you will enjoy Medieval Times more. For one, the food's better and you're not subjected to second-rate singing. Both shows make for a nice night out with kids.

Yes, its great! Delicious food and great for all ages!~ I think it is well worth it--plus look for discounts or coupons online. I have only been to Medieval Times (in Buena Park, CA) but I have heard good things about the Pirates adventure.
However, call in advance--its a good idea to show up early to get good seats and bring lots of napkins--you eat with your hands and you only get one wet wipe! Plus I think they have student discounts--I don't remember, but it wouldn't hurt to ask! Enjoy and have a great time!

Well, I took my 8 year old son to Pirates, he loved it. The food was ok, they had some snacks that you could eat before the show. My son was actually chosen to be in the production in the beginning, as well as the end. It was pricy, but he realy enjoyed it. Take your camera, enjoy she will only be 8 once, a chalk up some brownnie points,. Good show

Been to Medieval Times. It's ok, the one in Vegas is better. I heard the Pirate show is good. They're right next door to each other in Southern Cal.

Medieval Times is great. I took a friend for his birthday to the Buena Park, California location earlier this year. Tip: do not arrive too early prior to the show, otherwise you will be waiting in various public areas where you will be encouraged to spend more money.
