Hosea Williams always said that in the South, you KNEW who was racist because they were openly hostile to you. In the North, you never knew because they would smile and befriend you to your face, and then call you "***.ger" behind your back.

Bless your heart! I think it is worse in the north! Things are a lot more separate , in the north a friend had a moving co. they made a truck load of money from "white flight" [ if a house in your neighborhood was sold to a black person every house on the block was for sale with in 6 weeks] In the south they just don't do that. In the south you do know who hates you . They have a "flag" on their truck and hang their sheets on the clothes line in the front yard.

Nothing! Racism is racism... Be it in the south or in the north. However, in the North, you have more chances of being exposed to Ku Klux Klan people and in the south, to the rednecks. But hey, you still are prone to be discriminated!

I think that the people in the South live in the past in a lot of ways... so it's worse down there.
In the North, some people look for things to call racism. They'll say that someone is being racist when they really aren't.

Well its more in the open in the south. Up north the whites try to play like they're not but they are very sneaky and underhanded. I guess it's more discreet up north. The whites down south keep it real if you will
Personally, I rather know you don't like me than you being all fake with it. You know?

There isn't NEARLY as much racism in the northern USA. In the south, it rules society still. (I've lived in both places and I know this very well.) I will NEVER live in the deep south again. It's an awful place to live.
