Your processor is literally the equivilent to a humans brain. if it's not very fast, then every other feature that uses any form of computation(anythng from moving the cursor, to running a video from your hard drive) if you get a slower processor, then your other tasks will be noticably slower:::example::: startup and loading is one thng that ppl often think of when they think of what will be affected by processor they have. although this is one thing, there are MANY other thngs that will be affected by a slow CPU (central processing unit) things like opening and playing music, videos, games, and other programs will be slower, bc your cpu has to recognize all the information being read on the hard drive, even if your hard drive is like 10,000 rpm (really fast for modern hard drive you wont be able to utilize its speed because the info cant be read and loased that fast) another human comparison, if arnold schwartzanegar had an I.Q. of 31, it wouldn't matter that he was super strong bc he couldn't think fast enough to use his muscles to the fullest. unless you are hurting for money, i'd suggest a intel core duo which is what i'm on now, it's only 1.6Ghz, but since it's a dual core, it can process like a pentium 4 @ 2.4Ghz. Gateway, dell, and toshiba offer a series of afordable laptops with speedy processors. for under $1k, you can get alot if you look around for the right componets together.

ah consider a dell, or try to get a deal from best buy/circuit city/compusa
for between 600-750, you get a basic machine, with a celeron processor. although they *do* work, it IS considerably slower and less powerful than the pentium m or dual core processors. most laptops now come with either 512 mb or 1 gb of memory, but if your looking for a deal it may only have 256 mb, might have to upgrade, but you can buy that pretty cheap at best buy
the wireless comes included with almost all laptops
the graphics card? even the included one will be more than enough for music videos

I have the base model dell inspiron 1100, had it since summer 2003, love it, cost 700 including everything, 2.0ghz celeron, 128mb ram, i added another stick about a year ago. Its been back to dell once under warranty, cpu burnt up.... but it took them a whole two days to get it back to me... i was surprised the evening of the day i called fedex was here with a box to ship it, two days later it was back!
i love sony but hate the price of those little guys

Well its probably out of your price range...and it was certainly out of mine but I used my student loans to purchase my laptop. I bought an Apple Powerbook 15". I'm usually a PC person but this laptop certainly converted me! No crashing, viruses practically nonexistent, and the ease of using the programs! It automatically hooks up to whatever wireless internet connection there is! They came out with the MACBOOK and its even better than what I have! But mine is still excellent!
