Then you are either perpetually dissatisfied with your performance (not always a bad thing) or your self-image needs an adjustment.
Too many people think too highly of themselves, but there are those who don't give themselves proper credit.
If you're curious, then next time people tell you how great you are, challenge them. Why do they say that? What evidence do they have? If they say this because they like you and want to be nice, maybe this will shut them up and you can get back to work. If they have concrete evidence and can tell stories about your greatness, then listen closely to them, because they're on to something.

Then you need some counseling to boost your self esteem and confidence. If people say these things and you don't believe it then you are going to have problems later when you don't trust yourself. If it is just that you think that you could be doing better, then challenge yourself but accept praise graciously.

If multiple people have told you this, then its more than likely true.
Maybe your view of yourself isnt as clear as it is to those looking from the outside in.
