I went to the doctor when a pregnancy test determined I was pregnant. It had only been 24 days since my last period and 12 days after ovulation. She only did one test and the outcome was 109. She said this was so low that I had definately miscarried even though there has been no bleeding or other symptoms and I am still getting positive pregnancy tests. the charts I looked at online say something very different. According to the charts (and I looked at many) that is a very normal HCG level. I go to a military doctor who is not an OBGYN. Is it possible she could have confused what my levels should be 3 weeks three days from my last months period with what my levels should be three weeks three days from ovulation?

How does the body temperature testing work?

NO! This test does not indicate a miscarriage.

As you can see from the charts there is a very wide range of normal. You should get another test in 2 days, as long as it has gone up to 218 (or higher) you are doing well.....test again 2 days after that, if it has doubled, you're ok.

You need to get on prenatals (vitamens) until you can drink lots of orange juice, and get an OB.......ask that the test be repeated. Based on the test alone, you are not having a miscarriage.

Good luck and I'm sorry you were frightened like that.

PS: my first level was 115, 14 days after ovulation, I am now 16 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby.

You should also ask for ultrasounds....in 2 weeks they should see a sack, in 2 more weeks a fetal pole (baby) in 2 more weeks a heartbeat.

If you are only around 4 weeks pregnant (1 day of your missed period), there's no way to diagnose anything really based on an ultrasound. You're not going to see any sort of significance beyond the sac until around 6-7 weeks. Follow the orders of your physician, get those repeated HCG blood tests and see what's going. The ER really isn't the best place to get a diagnosis for a viable pregnancy. Don't stress out.

get a different doctor at 12 days past ovulation the majority of women have less than 25units of hcg!

Sounds like she could be mistaken, have you been taking you body temps as well, this is usually a better than measuring HCG. My sister never registered properly with her HCG levels even when she was 6 months pregnant!

I wish you luck!

Make an appt in the OB/GYN clinic. I don't think you need a referral to do that on the base/post. If you can't get in to that clinic, call for an appt in your regular clinic, but tell the person making the appointment you don't want to see your regular doc, that you have a conflict with her. It shouldn't be any problem to see someone else. (Half the time I don't get to see my regular doc when I call, anyway!)
