A few years ago PBS had a program (maybe Frontline) about a woman who lived in the United States. I think her name was Anna Anderson, and there was a question about whether she was really Anastasia Romanoff. It is generally accepted that scientific analysis showed she wasn't Anastasia, but I've often wondered if the real Anastasia had been alive whether someone would have made sure she was never "found out" (because maybe she had mental health problems). The elderly and (if I saw correctly) somewhat eccentric woman believed to possibly be Anastasia did die a while back.
There has been work done to try to find the remains or otherwise learn what happened to Anastasia, and generally it is claimed by those involved with the work (or requesting it) that it is believed Anastasia was killed with her family.
Most people agree that the cartoon was not the way things really occurred, and on the Internet you can find all kinds of information about the Romanoff family and Anastasia.
I continue to be amazed at the beautiful and artful animation of that movie

It's based on the true story but Fox's version of Anastasia (the cartoon movie) kinda twists things around and some of the stuff is inaccurate. First of all at the beginning when rasputin put a curse on the romanov family and anastasia escaped with her grandmother through a wall, she was 8 yrs old in teh movie. They based the begining of the movie on the time when the romanovs got shot at the ipatiev house but then Fox did that all wrong for viewers's entertaimnent. Really when anastasia and her family ( the romanov family) got shot she was 17 yrs old.

The story of Czar Nicholas and his family is true, as is the quest to find the real czarina Anastasia. As for whether she is truly still alive, only she would know that, I somehow think not. As for Rasputin, he was a monk with a great knowledge and power and had a hold over the Romanov family, especially the then Czarina (Nicholas' wife). It is true that he was believed to be evil and some say even in league with the devil himself, at one stage they tried to shoot him and it was believed he survived 6 direct shots into his back. If you get a chance, watch the biography channel and try and catch their Rasputin story. Its about as good as it gets.

NOOOOO! It's really tragic actually. She got shot at an early age with the rest of her family. Rasputin had a BIG influence on Anastatia's mum. The brother was very sickly as I remember, and the family didn't want anyone to know. People have pretended to be here, but they were not her.

Its based on the story of the Royal Family of Russia during the Revolution in 1917. In real life, the entire family were killed by revolutionaries (which led to Russia beoming communist), but there was talk of the young princess Anastasia being saved and still being alive. Sceptics doubt that she escaped but it makes for a good fairytale. There have been several imposters pretending to be her, but a DNA profile has shown them to be fakes.

Yes and no. The Romanov's existed. They were mass murdered. Is she still alive? No one knows. Rasputin was the lover of the Queen. He wasn't evil....just a player.

that cartoon made me mad...it is so far from the truth..
the truth was that Czar Nicolas and his family were murdered by the followers or Lenin. there were no survivors....the Anastasia thing was a myth. Raspuin was a crazy monk..
read about Anastasia on the net..you will learn the truth.
