can someone tell me what degree t stat im supposed to have in a chevy 350 boat engine? right now it has a 195 and it overheats i think this is way to high.

Mercruiser runs a 143 deg thermostat. A 195 is for cars.

Somehow you have a problem with your water intake. When everything is operating normal 195 is fine.

you need to check the impeller in the lower end. and check to see if you do not have trash in the water inlet holes.. the 195 sounds ok

Did you run the motor with no water going to it? If so the water pump is shot. replace the pump in the lower unit.

you should be ok ,try something like a 180 if you want. are you sure it's opening
