Well, in the book it says to Solve each formula for the specificed variable. The use of the formula is indicated in paranthesis.
A=1/2bh is one of the questions and it says to solve for B, but I have no clue how I'm suppose to do that... Could someone please help explain how I go about solving this?

You must have numbers for the other variables to sub in. As in, if there is a triangle on the page, A is its area and h is its height. Put in the other numbers and then solve it like an equation: use order of operation until it reads: # = b, or b = #. The number is your answer; don't forget to label. Or you could use the formula other users gave to solve the problem, but if the directions say to solve the formula, solve it the right way, like an equation. Good luck!

A=1/2 bh is the formula for the area of a triangle.
A is the area; b is the base; h is the height.

b = 2*A / h

Just manipulate the equation to solve for the required variable.

2(a/h) = b

a/b=(1/2bh)/b=1/2h
(a/b)/a=(1/2h)/a
1/b=(1/2h)/a
b=a/(1/2h)
