When I split from my ex (my kids were 21+) I just took what I needed (a bed, a settee, a chair and a few pans). I thought this was the nice way to do things as I didnt want to leave a house with big gaps (he left me but then I couldnt pay my half as I was a mature student so he came back and took over). I sooo regret this now. He gave all my nice stuff to his young girlfriend! If I had my time again I'd take the bloody lot!!!!!

That is a personal question (to each person). I'm about to split up and I'm thinking of my family history items. Things that belonged to my great grandmother, etc. then I'd say my dogs, then money. House is money, car is money. Most of the furniture is just money. Pictures (not of the two of us) I want. My jewelry and my books I want and the list goes down from there... Other than memorabilia is replaceable with money. Get the equivalent to whatever you want to get, THEN you get to buy it better then what you had, because it's what YOU picked w/o your spouse and it will feel like a clean fresh start with no memories attached to the item. I read into your question a bit. Hope it helps.

There is not a one thing. All i want is my stuff. she can have or we can split all else. I want my clothes, tools, cds and personal junk. She can have all hers of the same and anything else. I have my trucks (not worth as much as) and she has her car. nothing to argue over that i could not replace with 1 paycheck.

If after everything was divided up legally, I wouldn't let them have my wedding ring or engagement ring if there was one. I know most people would throw it at them, but I would keep it to remember the good times.

I would only let her have the the things she bought and the things she brought when we first got together. Nothing that I spent my own money on.

if their is children involved they can not have the place of residence, it is only fitting for the man to let the woman and children have the house
