If you're in UK, then it stops the same time as child benefit does. If they leave school and don't go onto further education it stops at the end of the school year when they reach 16, if they do certain apprentiships or go to colledge it continues till the end of the school year when they're 18, if they go on to university, it continues until the end of the schoolyear and they reach 19. If they're disabled/become disabled it continues till they reach 21 (I think), although it can stop if they leave home, get married early, move to a different country or die.
If you make private arrangements, it can finish when you both agree although unless you've got a very good amicable relationship, then I'd advise against that!

As I understand it each state has a age where you are considered an adult and are responsible for yourself. Most are either 18 or 21. You are required to pay child maintenance until they reach that age except if they are in full time attendance of school (eg college) , then you must continue to pay child maintenance. You may also be required to pay a portion of the child's school costs and living costs. You should consult an attorney - I have heard of people who have not contributed to the school costs and living costs because the ex has not requested it, and ended up being taken to court by the child . Remember the child maintenance is for the child not the ex.

Until they reach the age of 18,or become non-students.This means that as long as the child is a student(this includes college) the payments have to be made.I know a lady that was getting child support from her father and she was 35.

Well it should be 18 but if YOUR child isnt working i would suggest supporting them when they are over 18.. more so if they are trying to study for a better life in future years..

for the main area with an exception to age, a newborn is seen somebody who isn't bodily or mentally waiting to offer for themselves. so in case you youngster is disabled, then his/her age performs no area in this. they're going to continually elect your help probably for something of your existence. i won't have the capacity to talk morals right here, yet in this concern you may desire to come to settle for that a disablity is rarely going away. no longer even at an 18th birthday. in the experience that your ex factors on your newborn, that's existence like which you may desire to proceed some form of help for the time of yours or the youngster's existence.
