My sister just saw her first bat in the house. There have been no other signs until now. No scratching noises, no amonia smell, nothing.

Bat removal, prevention and clean up for just one bat????????? I had a bat in my house years ago. My husband got it out. When I saw a dead one down the basement, I got serious. We found out where they were getting in. My beloved, but idiot husband had left a little trap door open leading to the chimney. We closed it. End of story.

How much can it cost? That depends on the amount of work to be done. Your questions is really 3 different questions. For instance, you can get a single bat out yourself for free but getting a guy out to your house at night (bats usually appear at night) which is of course after hours could cost 125 - 350 depending on what part of the US you are in.
If you have an infestation of bats - you would probably pay for an inspection from a qualified technician. again 125- 289 are common fees for an inspection then the big cost of sealing your home so that once the bats are out they cannot get back in! This could be any range of wild numbers - again based on the actual amount of work to be done.
Lastly you asked about clean-up and again I say it is in direct relation to the amount of work to be done. Without knowing square footage, amount of damage, and materials there is no way to answer this even close. I have done a clean up for 125 dollars and one for 21k
If you have had a single bat in the house once, someday you will likely have another. I would suggest an inspection from a qualified technician and I would check references on what ever company you hire. If all they want to do is talk about an insurance claim - or use scare tactics - buyer beware!
Good Luck
You can do a quick search for my DIY Bat Removal Handbook on google and perhaps that will help!
