All of a sudden Pluto is no longer a planet, it's too small to be considered a planet. Can't they leave good enough alone? What's the next change going to be? Any ideas?

The debate over Pluto has raged for many years. It is actually not the first object to be demoted from planet status. Many years ago another object named Ceres was also considered a planet for a number of years and then demoted. It really comes as no surprise as Pluto is really not like the rest of the planets. Add to that the fact that there has been another, larger object discovered beyond Pluto and the fact that there could be hundreds, if not thousands of others has forced science to draw a line as to what makes a planet a planet. Pluto came up short.

I read somewhere that Pluto is still going to be considered a planet. Yes it was questioned because of the size and all but they are saying that if it was discovered today they would not classify it as a planet.
So for now it will remain the ninth planet!

What is going on is that, yet again, Science is changing it's ideas. We are told that we should rely on science and the scientists of this world for answers yet they are always changing those answers.
How are we supposed to rely or believe in something if we can't be certain it won't change in the future.
-Pluto was a planet until they decided to redefine a planet. What will they "redefine" next?

Hey, that is what Science is all about. If a theory is wrong, someone comes up with a new theory that better explains it. The idea was that Pluto was a planet but it didn't fit the facts. It was then reclassified. Poor Pluto. Get over it.

People decide its not enough theyve screwed up earth, now the whole galaxy is up for grabs! I say you can't demote a planet. but I guess I have no science degree or anything, so my opinion doesnt really count
