confront the person, kinda laugh and wish you hadn't just witnessed it, or just leave the area in case it happens again.

If I am offended and it's someone I know I bring to their attention what they did so they won't do it again. If it's someone I don't know I just get away from the situation.

Nothings ever simple, huh? If what someone is doing is picking their teeth with a match book cover, I just try not to look. If it's something they couldn't help, rather than embarrass them, I maintain a poker face. If, however, they consciously do something out of line or inappropriate, grab the waitress by the butt or insult someone at the next table, I'll tell them one time that they're being offensive, and after that I'll leave. There's no point having a prolonged conversation with somebody like that. If they haven't learned manners and discretion by now, any thing I may say to them isn't going to make any difference.

I usually enjoy confrontation, but if I know AND like the person I will give them a chance to run.

EDIT: I meant to say that I will take them aside and quietly tell them that they have offended me and ask them politely to refrain from doing so in the future.

Well that really depends, if the offensive thing is happening directly to me and is about me, I will either laugh it off or walk away depending on how bad it is. If it is happening far away I will usually ignore it.

Walk away, head to the car, pop the trunk, grab my weapon of choice, and confront the person accordingly. And oh, yes: there will be blood.....
