You can use delivery confirmation but it requires that they click "OK" when a box pops up that says "user requested delivery confirmation". So there's a chance that even if they read it, that you may not get that message.

Options are different in all email programs.

Not after you sent it. Before you send it some clients have an option called a read-receipt. If you click that then when the person opens the email, something will be sent to you saying he/she opened the message.

Outlook express put a check in the box
click tools then options then reciepts
put a check in the box you want
click ok when finished
