definitely go for advice in the morning. I was at hospital once and a lady come in with a bite - and she needed antibiotics. You could have it infected. get some help before it really gets bad. Just think what sort of germs get in a cats mouth. Good luck and hope it gets better soon.

Humans can get an infection from cats called "cat scratch fever" ( yes, there is a song with the same tittled by ted nuggent)..But if the area is swollen, around the site of the bite, check to see if you are running a fever chances are, that if you have an infection, you will have a fever. Go see a doctor..And you should not have wasted time typing a question ....Common sense would have told you to have it looked at.

Jo, just err on the side of caution and pop off to the Doctor if you are at all worried. Many years ago my friends boyfriend got bit by his cat and he did nothing about it. He ended up getting a huge infection and lost the end of his finger. This could have been easily treated if he had gone sooner. Best of luck.

Well, it seems as though you have gotten an infection. Try putting ice on it. If the swelling doesn't go down, go to a doctor. It may be a good idea to bring the kitten with just in case.

No it's not a stupid question, the same thing happened to me.
Like the other posters said, you really need to go to the doctor.
Go as soon as possible. Infections are nothing to fool around with, you can either lose the hand/arm/leg (where ever you got bit) or lose your life.

Has your cat been vaccinated for rabies? If not, you should probably get the cat quarantined for 10 days or tested.
Have you had a recent tetanus shot?
Cats mouths carry lots of nastiness and it is probably infected. You will need to get it treated.

Why do you not want to go to the doctors??? If its swelling then you need some help as it sounds like there might be some kind of infection. If you have a problem with your doctor then you could try NHS direct (www.nhs.uk, tel 0845 4647) your local NHS walk in centre (if you have one) or your practice nurse.

Bathe the area in warm salt water and keep repeating.
The trouble is with kittens is they have additional germs to fully grown cats and they can get very nasty
Go to the G.P. tomorrow to be on the safe side.
