You are kidding me! I think sometimes they have nothing new to come up with so they make things up. Like this whole thing about Pluto not being a planet. Or their billion dollar funding for cows releasing methane gas into the air.

Think about it for a minute before leaping to a judgment about it. If there is really a rare species of unknown ape in the American wild, then it ought to be protected as an endangered species. However, the laws protecting endangered species only provide protection for proven and known species, not conjectured ones that might not exist. Therefore, a special piece of legislation was needed just in case they turn up real one day, like gorillas did in Africa a century ago. Your unbridled cynicism seems to have encouraged you (and those who have agreed with you) to decide the law made no sense before you made any reasonable attempt to think about what the reasons for it might be.

I don't know. There might be a Bigfoot. If there is I would prefer that he not be shot by some good old boy holding a beer and a 12 Gage.

Its called pandering to the voter base. Its easy to pass such a reiculous law as oppose to something more serious like the economy or war

Well, no, it's easy to mix up Arnold Shwartzenegger with Bigfoot. It wouldn't be good if someone shot arnold thinking he was the elusive bigfoot, now would it?

It's better for them to be making laws that forbid you to shoot nonexistent ape-men (and making July National Shrub Awareness Month) than for them to be messing up the tax/school system more than it already is.

Why not? Most APEmen are protected against being murdered or molested!
Bigfoot is as good as any dumb human being in my book!

Can you give the citation to the US Codes for this law?

I'll make it easy. Here's a link to a searchable and browseable version of the US Code.
