Is Me & U by Cassie about blow jobs?

Well, after Me & U was released, there was a flurry of people who felt the song was about oral sex. Here's how Cassie responded to one of them:

"Yo, some things need to be cleared up right now. First off I’d like to say that the media is absolutely ruthless and will do ANTHING to tear people down. This week particularily has been the worst with media for me. They’ve released statements that I never said about the intentions of my first single ‘Me & U.’ I never said that the song is about oral sex. Take it as you wish, I NEVER SAID THAT, EVER!"

Now, Cassie does not deny that the song may have been about oral sex, but she does insist she never said anything on the topic. And that's a smart way of playing it, because it's not hard when reading the lyrics to come to that conclusion. Let's go through these lyrics:

"You've been waiting so long
I'm hear to answer your call
I know that I shouldn't have had you waiting at all
I've been so busy, but I've been thinking about what I wanna do with you"

'Answer your call' is a reference to a request, not a phone call. So her male partner has been waiting so long, and Cassie now wants to fulfill his request. She feels bad for making him wait for this request to be fulfilled, but she's been busy. In the meanwhile, she's been thinking about what she'd like to do with him, which we can assume is related to the request.

She could be talking about grocery shopping, but I think it's fairly easy to assume that she's talking about a sexual activity. What else would make sense?

"I know them other guys, they been talking bout the way I do what I do
They heard I was good, they wanna see if it's true
They know you're the one I wanna give it to
I can see you want me too"

So other males talk amongst themselves about her skills at whatever this request is. Again, it's pretty safe to assume that the guys are talking about her oral sex skills - what else would they be talking about? Keep in mind that if it isn't something sexual, it still has to apply to the words "They heard I was good, they wanna see if its true" and especially "you're the one I want to give it to". For example, let's say it's not about oral sex, and Cassie's actually a very talented painter. Why would the guys all talk about it, why not girls too? Why wouldn't they already know if it's true? And how do you give the talent of painting to a person? Besides, how would that make sense with the first few lyrics?

"Think I wanna make that move, now
Baby, tell me if you like it (Tell me if you like it)"

'Making a move' is a reference to a romantic activity - it could just mean asking somebody for a date. But you wouldn't need to say, "Hey, wanna go out? Listen, baby, tell me if you like it." It makes more sense to say, "I'm going to make a sexual move. Baby, tell me if you like it."

"I was waiting for you to tell me you were ready
I know what to do, if only you would let me
As long as you're cool with it, I'll treat you right
Here is where you wanna be"

Now, what nice normal non-sexual thing would require you to "be ready"? I mean, you might have to "be ready" for bad things, like a dentist appointment or a heart surgery, but then why is "here where you wanna be?"

And the most obvious lines:

"Baby, I'll love you all the way down
Get cha right where you like it, I promise you'll like it (I swear)
Just relax and let me make that move (It's our secret thang)
Keep it between me and you"

In case you didn't get the sexual feel earlier, she says directly "I'll love you all the way down". Now, if she doesn't mean "down his body", what *does* she mean? There's no other common phrase that says "all the way down" pertaining to love. Then she makes a reference to particular location by saying "right where you like it, I promise you'll like it".

By this point it should be pretty obvious it's about sex, and probably oral sex - especially combined with the sexual images in the music video.

I think it's sad that so many singers - especially black female singers - have to take their clothes off and have sexual lyrics to get any attention. The worst thing is that so many are still really young, and that once you've taken everything off, there's nothing to keep the audience's attention anymore. It's rough to make it in the music business as a black girl...and Cassie is just another example.

Anyway, good luck & enjoy the summer jams.
