Take whatever paper you're going to use to cover the book/notebook and make sure it's 3-4" larger than the book around the permieter of it when it's laying open.

Mark the top and bottom of the book of the paper, and fold it on the marks straight across (without the book inside-the paper will then look to be the same height as the book, and the left and right sides will still a few inches of slack on either side.

Lay the book open on top of the paper, and mark where the book ends, and then fold in the sides on the lines you just marked. These folds will form a little pocket which you can slip the covers of the book into, then close.

use a big paper bag from the grocery store. just cut it bigger that the book & tape it together
