Why did the government change? (1994) and also could someone tell me why South Africa gave up the nukes they developed (1991)?

A combination of increasing internal violence/unrest, regional instability and economic sanctions caused the white nationalist government to see the writing on the wall. The govt. realized that it did not have the military might or the money to maintain a system that was viewed as a pariah around the world.
So when F.W. de Klerk relented and began negotiations with the ANC and other parties. The negotiations resulted in the release of Nelson Mandela. Negotiations between Mandela (ANC) and de Klerk (Nationalities) resulted in the repealing of the last laws supporting apartheid and ushered in a peaceful transition to democracy in South Africa.

Jimmy Carter destroyed South Africa, using apartheid as an excuse.
They gave up their nukes because they said it was the right thing to do. Is that the real reason? I don't know. I think it was because South Africa, after Carter's destruction, was being taken over by communists. And they didn't want the coming communist govt to have them.

Because it was wrong apartheid that is.!!!
Nukes - because we were stupid to , it stopped us from becoming a super power in Africa, we signed the nuclear proliferation act.!!! that was a mistake on our part, I don't see any reason why other countries can have and us not. Proud to be South African!!!

2nd question: I don't know. Maybe because of the aparthied or because black people were taking over the country and it was believed they would kill whitey...I don't know...I should stop.
