I do this all the time your dvd player has to be connected to the out port on your TV you can use regular rca cables the cables that have white yellow and red leeds then its just a mater of starting the program you want to record and pushing record on the dvd recorder

You need to buy a dvd burner. you can probably find one at wal-mart or an electronics store. it connects to your dvr, and then in your dvr programming there should be an option to start recording to the dvd burner.

Ccheck to see if your DVR has a Usb port on it that you can run from your DVR into your computer...Connect it to your computer, see if your computer detects it, and then just try to burn to dvd. Good luck.
