1. Take your mouse and unplug it. Make sure that the adapter is clean (one the mouse and on the back of the computer). Plug it back in and see if it works.
2. Reboot your computer. Shut it down completely. Restart it a few minutes later and see if that solves the problem.
3. Did you install the software that came with your mouse? It could have come with a setup of some sort, if so, you need to download the software.
4. Sometimes computers are just stupid and don't "recognize" the software or something. BUT, some computers can have that as a warning when there's nothing to worry about at all. My computer doesn't "recognize" my monitor, but it still works. My keyboard was the same way. Sometimes you have a retarded computer, and you won't have to worry about it.
HOPE I HELPED!

need to enable keyboard mouse keys - to do this press left shift left alt the num lock
should get a beep from you computer - using the arrow keys - SPACE BAR AND THE TAB KEYS on the keyboard select the settings and then set the speed to high and with the space bar put a tick in mouse keys
This will enable you to use the keyboard as a mouse - the numeric keys will move the arrow around and the space and enter keys act as mouse buttons
Now press and hold the windows key (the one that looks like a flag) and press down the pause break key - this should bring up the system properties
using the mouse keys highlight hardware and then device manager
high light the plus next to mouse and other pointing devices > remember press enter
then select your mouse by opening it up then use the option to uninstall
now restart you computer
see if this helps
if not your mouse may be faulty
hope this helps

First of all try to connect another mouse (get it from another computer). If it will work - you need to replace your mouse (the cable may be broken or something wrong with mouse chip).
If new mouse will not work, the problem is with your PC (bad port, problems with driver etc.)

When you see that message, carefully use your "tab" key and arrow keys to navigate to the click button or zone. Use "shift tab" to navigate in reverse. The button will be highligted some way. It will change shape slightly and probably change color slightly too when it is ready. It may appear to move up. Hit "enter" when ready.
Good luck.
