It depends on what part of the state you're talking about. Mostly, it's just like here in Indiana--it'll get down to the single digits at least a few times each winter, though it hasn't been quite as cold the last few years. If you're up around Chicago, you're going to get a lot of lake-effect snow, but usually the snow doesn't get any deeper than a few inches everywhere else. There will be more wind, since there's not a hill in the state (except WAY south). Summer temperatures will vary from the mid-80's to low 90's, with an occasional jump into the 100's (usually just a few times each summer). Spring and fall make it worth it, though--where there are trees, they'll turn in late September to early October, and the wildflowers will generally bloom in mid to late April. If you want a really good source, check the Weather Channel. They should give temperature and rainfall averages for the year.

One other thing you should be prepared for is tornados. There will be a few watches for your area about every year, but the storms which spawn the alert don't usually cause tornados. At worst, it's that bad joke about a divorce in Kentucky--no matter what happens, somebody's going to lose a trailer.
