I don't have a degree in this field but I do have a degree. Also, can I work at home being a medical transcriptionist?

Yes, you'd need to at least take a certificate program on Medical Transcription, because there's a special machine that you transcribe on and you'll need to learn how to type on it. It's not a regular keyboard, because you type in codes instead of word for word. You must be a very fast typist.

You can take classes through your local adult education program, region occupational program, or community college. You will need to have an exensive understanding of medical terminology. Yes, there are some doctors or hospitals the use independant contrators to do their transcribing.

you don't need experience, but lots of this work is going to India now, so harder to get into this field. What you do need to have it medical vocabulary knowledge, so that you can understand what is being transcribed - that's what the training is for.
