I have had a family member who is the mixed child...luckily for her her mom and dad left for her to decide. Not all mixed children's parents are this way,but yes from time to time you will see there is a pro dominate parent...the couple may lean toward one or the other as a preferential race(rather redundant.)
In reality they may believe they are helping the child to identify with something....rather than allow them to be in limbo about it.The parent's way of taking control and guiding their own child and or giving the child a culture to identify with.
Though these days I do see more and more openness to allow the child to decide for them selves where they are most happy.

I'm of mixed race and i was brought up knowing and expecting both sides as equal, my friends came in all shapes and color. my parents give up there on parents so they could be together. they taught us to have love, and compassion for man kind as a whole and an reality no one is better than thy other because we all where born into this world by a women and man , we all bleed red blood and we will all die one day. We're all a 100% human if you ask me. It's sad that it's parents that are still out there promoting children to hate them selves.

Well said. I totally agree. I also hate when mixed people don't claim their other half. The other day I was watching a special about Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz was on there saying how hard it was for a black man(referring to himself as well as Jimi) to be a rock guitarist. Hello. Kravitz is half Jewish.

I agree, if you are going to be ashamed of the race you marry into then you are making a mistake by doing so.

ask the black community when tiger woods didn't fully claim to be black. they were outraged. how can he claim one and try to diss the other? if you noticed that the majority of blacks in mags like jett, are whiter than most whites, they aint black, but if they claimed the other half they would be pissed. but as soon as that sam person does something crazy, the black folks blame the other half. you cant pick sides at will you dum,b a**'s

I think their children should identify themselves any way they like. I don't know why we even have to apply labels to people.
