practice hitting the ball against a brick wall or something hard

what you need to do is go to a tennis club and see if there are any tennis classes for beginners. if there are sign up for a class. then you need to buy a racket. they should sell some rackets at the place that you go to. when you take your class make sure to try to do everything that the pro tells you to do. this way you should learn easily if you remember what they tell you. even when you don't have lesions you should go to the tennis club and see if they have a ball machine. if they do you should hit try to return the balls it hits to you. but then when you get better try to hit with a friends how plays tennis. this should get you better at tennis.

Follow what Melly said and in addition to that see the tennis tounaments. You get to learn a lot by seeing the pro's in action. And prepare your nerves and increase your stamina - if you are really going for it - all the best to you!!
