Can we also blame the idiots in New Orleans who decided, against SERIOUS recommendations, to get out of New Orleans? The flooding didn't happen overnight. It took a while.

Why'd they stay?

The blame for Katrina falls squarely, and completely, on Roy Nagin and Kathleen Blanco, the mayor of New Orleans and governor of Louisiana, respectively. Neither exercised their emergency powers, nor did they invite the Feds in until it was too late.

It's true that the FEMA chief was in over his head, but if either the mayor or governor had done their jobs it would've been apparent sooner. Besides, FEMA is supposed to be about disaster relief, not evacuations. The loss of life was solely the responsibility of the Democrats in charge. Bush only took responsibility because he's too weak to stand up and speak the truth.

Actually, Brown had done a good job in the previous hurricanes in Florida, so your 'idiot' comment is pretty much inaccurate. The Katrina thing was a huge disaster, and there were plenty of mistakes made to go around - by the mayor, by the governor, and by the federal government, not to mention the Red Cross, etc.

It was NOT completely screwed up, by any examination of the facts. Sure mistakes were made, but they were made on every level. And it was the media who made the situation worse than it had to be with their idiotic reporting.

As for FEMA, anybody who expects efficiency and competency from the federal government is delusional, and this type of spending is very much unconstitutional, to boot.

how about chocalate city Nagin and blowhard Blanco. They had resources and time to evacuate the city but didn't? Why? maybe they knew the outcome would be bad and could blame the government instead of taking the responsibility for their own city and state!!! blame blame blame!!!!
