i've known him for over 5 months now, and his birthday is coming up.
what would be a suitable gift? or rather what would be the right price range? ideas please?
i've already tried asking him what he wanted, and he said "please have dinner with me, and that's enough"

If he says dinner is enough.....then you pay.
The two of you are not joined at the hip in just 2 months.
But if you MUST buy something, winter is coming up, how about a nice sweater in a color that will look dashing on him? That is a 'warm' gift that doesn't have to mean any more or less than you (or he) wants it to.

Well, definitely have dinner with him.

What does he like? Where do you shop? My husband loves Pacific Sunwear, so when we were first dating, I got him a giftcard for there. He was thrilled. Once I got to know him better, I was able to buy him give more suited to him
