I do agree with you and smoking isn't just bad for the person smoking because of lung cancer and shorter life spans but it's also bad for the people around through secondary smoking or passive smoking and cigarettes pollute the air.

First off there something called Freedom. You may not be aware of it because in America its on the decline. In Freedom oyou may own your wn body. This enables you to do what you want with yourself, ie tatoo and use any drug you want.
Second Hand smoking is inconclusive because you don't know how much someone has breathed in second hand smoke in the first place to determine if they died from second hand smoke. Also alot of smoke that comes out of a smoker's mouth is pretty well filtered out by the lungs(thats why a smoker's lungs eventually turn black).
If you start telling people they can't smoke or start to control their behavior thats how totalitarianism starts (think Hitler). I value your opinion, but i disagree.

you are right.. meth and crack addicts DO have the right to say what goes into their bodies. you have no right to say what a person should and shouldnt do.
If you dont like smokers, or inhaling the smoke.. write to your congressman and tell him to pass into law that all public places be non-smoking.
I value your opinion, but I disagree. I smoke, and in NJ its now illegal to smoke anywhere public *except the casino* and I completely agree with this ban. I hate smelling smoke while I eat.

no If you want smoklefree places then open some of your own businesses. I do not smoke but i live in a free country where we do not have the right to tell others how to live there lives. Next you are going to make every fat person go on a diet and follow an exercise plan and eventually meke everyone go to a christian church.

No, smoking should not be banned. If people want to smoke ciggarettes, then they should be able to. And those of us who do not like ciggarette or cigar smoke can move out of the way. Tobacco products have been used for pleasure or habit for thousands of years. I don't understand this minority making such a fuss about it. Sure, it's bad for your health, but so is many, many other things we put into our bodies.

I think people should be able to do what they please to their bodies. Smoking in private isn't your business. Smoking in public is another issue and I think smokers should have the courtesy and respect to not smoke around crowds and I don't have a problem with it being banned inside businesses and what have you. But to say smoking should be banned completely? Sounds like the policy of some totalitarian society. I don't smoke, but no thank you.

It's really none of your business if someone wants to smoke. Although it is an addictive drug, I think comparing it to real drugs is a little extreme.

well lets see, what else would we have to also ban if we banned smoking.....cars (pollution), drinking (death), prescription meds for pain (addiction), guns (death), airplanes (pollution), fires (death), sex (HIV/aids), TV (corruption), video game (violence and death), food (obesity - death), I'm sure there are plenty more. You cant put a ban on things like that....cause you would just have to ban everything else. I mean look at what banning illegal drugs did, absolutely nothing, people still use them, people still die from them. People didn't just stop using drugs cause they are illegal and because they are afraid they are gonna die by using them.

Thanks, but no thanks. I prefer living in a country where I am free to do as I choose as long as it harms nobody else. I don't need some fascist government controlling every aspect of my life 'for my own good'. All those good intentions do is pave the road to hell.
Just give me liberty and get the hell out of my way!
