That person needs to be put on the spot why did you have to bump into him or her for them to tell you that they can't find it. I bet they thought of a lot of excuses but because they were not expecting to bump into you that day; get the police envolved if you feel really hard done by so they know that you are no push over.

your friend has either pawned the item or sold it to someone else. You left your friend with the responsibility to care for your stored item.

I would sue the person in small claims court is what I would do for the value + court costs for the item. Make sure you have documentational receipts for the purchase of this valuable item.

seems a bit strange that your friend must look for storage. it seems you wanted to hide the valuable for some reason. anyway ,if it is legitimate, i would keep asking, even if i did not get it back. let him/her dance around trying to avoid you, when really you have given it up and obviously won't trust that person in that situation again.

You don't say why you left a valuable gadget with your friend?.
There seams to be some thing going on that your not telling,
or is it just my devious nature.??.
Birds of a feather...

There's really nothing you can do. What's done is done. They've simply played you. Get over it and move on.
