Depends on what sort of lifestyle you wany to live. Some people earn over 100,000 a year but still feel they need more to pay for their ambitions, while others are happy leading a simple life earning 30,000.

In the UK I'd say a single person withtheir own flat could get by on £25,000 but a married man with a wife & 2 kids would probably need to be earning £40-50K to pay the mortgage and support the family

Depends on where in the country you live in - One of the Coasts, better be six figures plus - in Alabama? Maybe 50k, Appalachia? Maybe 40k.

Also, one person, 5 kids? Health problems? too many factors to give a number.

Without knowing your financial details and your monthly expenses; I would say that you would want a salary that was at least 3 times the your monthly expenses. For example if your monthly expenses total is $1200.00, you would probably want a $3600.00 per month salary.
