They tax your home and your income.
They decide how much you pay for drivers license, car registration and inspections, marriage license, hunting and fishing licenses, etc...
They decide if you can become an American citizen or if you'll be deported (provided you are an immigrant).
They issue your passport (recently they decided that you have to have a passport to come back into the states from Mexico or Canada - something that wasn't required before).
They decide if we're going to war.
They decide if they're going to draft people for the war.
They decide what is legal and illegal.
They decide what neighborhoods will be zoned for businesses or not.
They decide if they can take your home away from you for the "public good".
They decide so many things it would take pages and pages to list them.

National they steal your money through what is called the Federal Income Tax. Also the Federal Reserver determines the Interest Rates for Banks. Social Security (national) helps pay for your retirement.
State governments depends what state you live in. State government may let you gamble. Some states you don't have to register to vote. Also some states want you to have a Conceal Carry Permit.
Local governments determine how to run your local school (ie school board).

Legion. Affects? Not likely. They are more of an external form of oppression to be kept spiritually and psychologically at a distance. This format is too small, it'd take about three or four pages, anyhow.

I spent five hours last Tuesday trying to convince California to issue me a drivers license, to replace my New Hampshire license that was going to expire soon.
I've been driving for 24 years. I've had a California drivers license before. But it still took five hours to jump through all their hoops.
