I think it depends on what level you go into a company as a civil engineers. Also if you have a masters or PH.D when you go in. The only civil engineer I know is my dad. He has a ph.d and started at $45,000 but now he is making around $250,000 because he got promoted to another position. It just depends on what position you are working.

It depends on what State you are located in. Here in California, a civil engineer with a Professional Engineer license and 15 years experience, in private industry, will make 85-95,000. less if you work for the State.

It all depends on the engineer's level of experience and where he/she lives.

For example, a Civil Engineer level 1 in the San Francisco Bay Area averages about $61,000 per year.
