Its a health and safety issue, there must be two doors between a kitchen and a toilet. But if you've left, whats the big deal? Unless you're planning to get beck at someone by reporting it, just remember it for nexrt time.
You should have been aware of that when you rented the property to run as a shop! Its a legal requirement.

health and safety and building regs state that you CANNOT have a toilet in a kitchen, in a room next to a kitchen with a hand basin is fine.
your local council website can provide the information you require. or call a local plumber.

yep we rent a property a bit like this. It's contrary to building control regulations. We banned kitchen-use of the kitchen elements (just a laundry now) and built another kitchen in another room.

its a legal requirement to have 2 doors between a bathroom and a kitchen, this was stated in "To buy or not to buy"
Plus it wouldnt be very hygienic to have bathroom within the kitchen vicinity!

Check with your local health dept. You can find them in the yellow pages. Is a violation of the health and safety code in many states.

Look up the code enforcer in your area. He should be listed in your local telephone directory.
