What happens is determined by your history. Usually, doctors wait till 20 wks. to check the sex of the baby so it is completely established and developed. Usually, they measure with their hands your uterus size, you ask questions, they check your urine and that's about it.

I've heard of people finding out as early as 18 weeks thru ultrasound, but I think it's usually more like 20 weeks. I think 15 weeks is too soon. You're only 2 weeks into your 2nd trimester. If you have an amniocentesis, you can definitely find out the sex of the baby - but I doubt any doctor would do one just for that reason.

Usually for the first few months they check the proteins in your urine, check your weight, measure your belly, check the baby's heartbeat, and maybe draw blood for some other pre-natal screenings.

Ask your OB for a schedule of all the standard tests you will need to have throughout your pregnancy. That way, you know what to expect at the next visit. Always take a list of questions with you so you don't forget them.

Probably not, although if they do an ultrasound and it's a high quality machine and your baby is in the exact right position they might be able to tell the sex. They will probably schedule you for a 20 week ultrasound at your 15/16 week appointment. You will most likely be able to hear the baby's heartbeat this time though!

well my second one they just listened to the babys heart beat and I was 15 weeks, they also had me go to a lab for blood work to see if my baby would have down syndrome or birth problems. I will be going next week to my appointment and this is my third on they will be doing a ultrasound and hopefully can find out the sex.

No, sex is still hard to determine.

Second visit usually urine test & heart monitor. Discuss any symptoms or concerns. Unless of course you have a history of medical issues that your dr. would be concerned about.
Normally don't do the ultrasound till around week 20, and then you may be able to see what the sex is if the little one is coorporative

Sometimes they can find out at 15 weeks but only if they told you they were doing an ultra sound. Most doctors wait between 18 and 20 weeks. At the second appt. they usually just listen to the heart beat and feel your stomach to see where the uterus is and how big it is. Waiting can be hard, I find out on the 31st what mine will be...I can't wait ( I will be 20 weeks). My cousin had has hers the 29th and she will only be 18 weeks, so it really depends. Good luck.

If they do an ultrasound they may be able to tell, but it's not a guarantee of the sex until the baby is born. I know a person that found out the sex by the doc.'s and when the child was born it was the opposite sex .

You'll only be able to find out the sex if you have an ultrasound, which your caregiver may or may not do this early. The ACOG actually recommends AGAINST doing them as a routine procedure, so you really ought to have a good medical reason for an u/s. I did have one with my first and we found out the sex at 16 weeks. We were lucky that he cooperated though!

No, 15 weeks is too early to accurately find out the baby's gender. Your nurse can guess, but that's about as good as it'll get. Wait to have your ultrasound for around 20 weeks. That's when they can get an accurate result.
