A little known fact about sliced bread is that its origin can be traced back to a single place. Chillicothe, Missouri (USA), is the official "Home of Sliced Bread." Sliced bread was born in Chillicothe, Missouri, on July 7, 1928.

I would say the best thing BEFORE July 7,1928 was "Lucky Lindy's" pioneering first solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean on May 20-21, 1927.

the best thing before sliced bread was the toaster, the only problem was nothing to put in it, then vwalla some one sliced some bread to put in the toaster, making it the best thing, the toaster had a short but great time being the best thing, well for it's 30 seconds of fame as the best thing. hope that answers your question.

Before sliced bread, the best thing out there was the Clam Loaf. Hell, in my book the Clam Loaf STILL beats sliced bread!

(DON'T use CANNED clams. Use the real ones or don't do it!)

That's easy it was Potatos! Or Spuds. There wasn't many names for vegetables in the Old days.. All round vegetable or somewhat round
were called gourds or gounds.. depending on what bible you read.. The disciples ate whey& gourd which is probably milk and potatos! Potatos are great with pretty much anything!
I think I will bake a few for myself today!
