I know but annoys me they don't clean up after them the piles they leave are ten times bigger than dog turds but if don't clean up after your dog you get a sixty pound fine and most of time they dump on the pavement.

I DO pay taxes. A lot of them, and not only for the roads but for the neighborhood children for their schools - and I *don't* have kids of my own. I'm a responsible adult & riding a horse is something that should be respected and encouraged, not scoffed at and shunned.

I also go 4-wheeling, but according to your lame theory, then if horses are to stay off the road & tarmac, then motorized vehicles need to stay ON ONLY such surfaces.

What a self-centered & foolish question from someone whose motor has more power than his mind.

Because of the wide-spread use of automobiles, it's often impossible to find someplace to ride a horse that doesn't make you go on the road.
Horseback riders aren't any happier about sharing than you are--being around cars is worrying. Not all drivers are as attentive as they should be, not all roads are wide enough to let you pass in comfort, and not all horses are calm and steady around cars.
You probably have some habit or hobby which is annoying somebody else--try and be empathetic!

its sounds like youve had a bad experience passing horses on the road, had to slow down and give them a wide berth,- as they are massive, strong beasts they deserve respect and caution, as for all horse owners being rich, leisure loving road hogs, this jsut isnt true, most horse owners consider it a sport and a hobby and takes up most of their spare time and money. road tax and horses..dont give tony blair any ideas..he might start by taxing bikes. try and be more understaning on this as its not just a ton animal but a human as well. drive slowly round horses please

That is stuppid everyone pays taxes. I dont own a horse but if I did I would ride it on the road too. If I see a horse on the road I go around it simple as that. Realy you should try complaining about something that matters I dont know like maybee our president is a total idiot who is trying to steal oil from other countries and sending all our young people off to Iraque. Realy I highly doubt that people are just riding around on horses Im sure if they can afford a horse then they can afford a car therefore they pay road taxes so shutt up. Youre just jelouse.

We don't think we own the road - we just wish that speeders wold give the horses a bit of consideration! My horse had to be put down last year as a speeder hit it and badly injured it! I myself as well was injured as well but the driver got away scot free! I dont think i own the road and anyway why do car drivers think they own the roads!

pedestrians stay on the paths, cyclists stay on the cycle paths, and horses stay on the bridle ways, until one of the above needs to get somewhere that involves using a road.

It's not our idea of fun riding amoungst the fumes, noise and speedsters, but i for one will not let a bit of 'tarmac', stand in the way between me and where i wanna go. simple as

They are pedestrians. Wether you like it or not, they have just as much of a right to be on the road as you do. Take a chill pill!
