I'm not comfortable going to up to her in person since we got in a heated conversation. It was so heated that I'm not going to tell her we're taking a break in person. But which is better, phone or text?

First of all there are no "breaks" in a relationship. Why? Because one of you will do something on that "break" and if you have any intention of getting back with her it will come back to bite you in the ***. Women never forget. Secondly if you do decide to take a break from each other the best way should be face to face. If you are uncomfortable or scared to face her by yourself bring a friend or tell her to meet you in a "safe" place. Like at the mall or a resturant. If you refuse to meet her face to face then over the phone would be better.

you need to call her and talk to her and tell her why you want a break. If your really wanting to take a break maybe you should just break up because it doesnt seem like you want a relationship in the first place or there would be no break!

as hard as it may be , u need to tell her in person it'll make things a lil better and she wont think that ur THAT bad since most guys do it over the phone. goodluk

This is a bad Idea, If you been with her for too long, it's best for you to tell it to her face that you want to break up. Telling her that way is almost like saying "I don't like to see you again" almost sort of thing.
Don't forget to give her a reason why, you don't want alot of tears.

Face to Face would be the gentlemanly correct action in this situation, if she does not accept this, its her non acceptance, you have already done the job. She cant say that you did not confront her with it.
