In order to prevent thrush, you need to clean the bottles all the time, every time, I've never had a problem with thrush ever. Put the gel on and after every feeding clean the mouth with a damp cloth like a baby disposable cloth. Then pat dry. Thats all you can do. It is painful.

My son had it too he had it for a while and the others are saying to make sure that your bottles are clean i have heard that it doesn't come from the bottles not being sterile or clean enough but i have also heard that it was because of that so confusing!!! If he won't stop crying then maybe the doctor need to prescrib another medication! I would call the dr...Good Luck!!! Hope he feels better soon!!!

My daughter had the same problem at that age. It is frustrating.
sometimes the yeast and the medication used causes tummy pain and diaper rush.
It wont go away easily. It might come back even after weeks of treatment.
I tried to keep the infection under control. try not to use the gel too often. I tried diluted baking soda in a ear bud and wipe his mouth, tong, gums, lips especialy after he eats. You will notice the white patches go away in a minute, but keep doing it several times a day, as often as you can.
They say it doesnt hurt but if he has white spots in his tong it might hurt .
It tends to disappear after treatment for some days but it keeps comming back. Check every day and do the soda thing. It is safe, dont worry.

My daughter had thrush too and after I got that medicine for her he went away really fast, she never seemed to be bothered by so I'm not sure of advice to soothe the baby but it should go away fairly quickly with correct use of the medication.

Trush does hurt. I would try giving him some baby oragel to numb it and give him some cold formula. The warmth hurt the little yeast bumps on the tounge and mouth. My daughter had thrush twice in one month so I know what you are going through...hang in there this too will pass

I had thrush recently and when I swallowed it felt like broken glass in my throat. It was very painful but, it was very quickly and easily treated with medication. So be sure to follow the directions for the medicne and use it all. In the meantime, you can give him Tylenol for pain.

Sweetie,Yes it is painful and it will take him sometime to clear up.Depending on when u seen the Dr.U may need to call them back and let them know how he is now.U can also take a soft warm wash cloth and gently wipe out his mouth. Before and after eating at specially. And always make sure u sterlitize all of the things that goes into his mouth.Good luck let me know if I can be of more help.

My baby had it, She wasnt bothered by it at all it will go away soon enough just keep useing the meds the doc gave you. To prevent it make sure everything that goes in the babys mouth is CLEAN! and if you breastfeed make sure you are getting treated as well. If it is bothering your baby theres nothing you can do to take the pain away it just has to go away, in the mean time comfort him.

my first daugther had thrush for like the first 3 mo. of her life and it makes their throats pretty sore and irritated. i hope the doctor gave you some nystantin, its yellow and works great! i'd give him the occassional dose of tylenol when hes really hurting and fussy until the thrush clears. my daughters kept coming back, but hopefully his will be gone soon!

my son had had it 3 weeks ago...the doc told me it isn't painful..just slightly annoying...use the meds every time...and rub it with your finger all over the inside of your baby's mouth and gums....honestly..he is probably crying because he's 11 weeks old...not for the thrush...it will pass..just be patient...good luck
